Matt is a passionate and friendly music teacher with a Masters in Music and over 15 years of teaching experience – from teaching privately to substitute lecturing at Carleton University, running a pilot ESL music program for the OCDSB, and delivering educational programs at Science North (Sudbury, ON).

Tailoring lesson plans to suit each individual student, Matt offers a result-driven, enjoyable, and practical approach to achieving musical goals.

Matt is a seasoned music industry professional with experience performing and composing worldwide. Having played for notable celebrities and politicians including PM Justin Trudeau, Ursula Von der Leyen, and countless other world leaders, he offers valuable insight into the world of live music.

A professional composer and arranger, Matt has written for, and performed/workshopped with, a variety of world-class award-winning musicians including the multi-Juno-winning Gryphon Trio, the great Dr. Oliver Jones (OC/CQ), the world-famous Jasmine Ensemble, and many others.

Most recently, Matt co-produced and arranged the music for Antoine C Collins‘ award-nominated Christmas album “It’s Christmas and I’m in Love.”

An outspoken advocate for the arts, and a cultural ambassador, Matt has organized and spoken at numerous conferences around the world, most recently at the 6th International Forum on Sharing Chinese Music with the World (Beijing, China).

As a leader, Matt has worn many hats: President of LUMA (Laurentian University Music Association), VP of the GMA at Carleton University (Graduate Music Association), director of the Ottawa Transpacific Orchestra, and now owner of Matt the Music Teacher.
